The robbery happened in Litchfield County on Monday, Sept. 30, when the suspect followed a victim home in New Milford after they picked up a FedEx package containing an Apple Watch at their parent's residence, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said on Friday, Oct. 4.

The suspect, identified as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania resident Dalin Gonzalez-Marte, then stole the package at knifepoint while trying to stab the victim several times, authorities said.

At around 3:45 p.m., members of the Sheriff's Office were given a description of Gonzalez-Marte's vehicle, which fled into New York and entered Putnam County.

Hours later, at around 5:10 p.m., members of the Sheriff's Office's Narcotics Enforcement Unit found the car driving west on Interstate 84 in Patterson and pulled it over. Gonzalez-Marte was then identified by the victim as the robber, authorities said, adding that a knife and stolen property were found inside his vehicle.

Gonzalez-Marte was later taken to the Sheriff's Office headquarters, where he was interviewed by members of the New Milford Police Department. A warrant was then issued for his arrest in Connecticut for first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, and unlawful restraint, the Sheriff's Office said.

Additionally, Gonzalez-Marte was arraigned in Putnam County Court on Tuesday, Oct. 1 as a fugitive from justice and ordered held without bail pending extradition to Connecticut.
